Submissions

All manuscripts submitted to the Nations International Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (NIJMS) undergo an initial editorial screening. Submissions that meet the journal’s scope and quality standards are progressed to a double-blind peer review process.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines

The following guidelines outline the requirements for preparing and submitting a manuscript for consideration.

Originality

Submissions must be original and must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Anonymity (Double-Blind Review Requirement)

NIJMS operates a double-blind peer review process, and authors must ensure that manuscripts are anonymised prior to submission.

Authors should:

  • Remove all identifying information (names, affiliations, acknowledgements) from the manuscript
  • Ensure that file properties do not contain identifying metadata
  • Avoid self-identifying references within the text

A separate cover letter must be submitted, including:

  • Manuscript title
  • Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Corresponding author contact details
  • Any relevant disclosures

Referencing Style

Manuscripts must follow the Harvard referencing style. All in-text citations and reference lists must be formatted accordingly.

Title Page

A separate title page must be provided (not included in the anonymised manuscript), containing:

  • Full title of the manuscript
  • Author name(s)
  • Institutional affiliation(s)
  • Corresponding author contact details

Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) and adhere to the following:

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size: 12-point
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides

Word Count

Manuscripts should be between 1,500 and 4,000 words, excluding references.

Abstract and Keywords

Each manuscript must include:

  • An abstract of no more than 200 words
  • Up to five (5) keywords

Figures and Tables

  • Figures and tables must be clearly labelled and numbered consecutively
  • Each must include a descriptive caption
  • Images must be at least 300 dpi resolution
  • Figures and tables should be placed within the relevant sections of the manuscript

Use of Copyrighted Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material where required.

Ethical Guidelines

Manuscripts must adhere to established ethical standards, including:

  • Avoidance of plagiarism
  • Accurate representation of data
  • Proper attribution of authorship

Where applicable, authors must also adhere to the journal’s policy on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Copyright

Authors retain the copyright of their work. Accepted manuscripts are published under an open-access license, allowing for distribution and reuse with appropriate attribution.

Decision Timeline

Shortlisted manuscripts are reviewed by independent experts in the relevant field.

  • Relevance to the field

Stage 3: Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer feedback, manuscripts will receive one of the following decisions:

  • Acceptance

Authors are provided with constructive feedback where applicable.
